This is not a necessary step for all dishes that include chickpeas. But if you are trying to make a super creamy hummus or a smashed chickpea salad and don't want skins floating around, its a nice touch.

Let's boil!

Essential Equipment
You need a strainer to drain and rinse the chickpeas.
A large bowl for warm chickpea bath. I normally use the largest bowl from this set.
Step 1: Add Baking Soda to Water
Add about a teaspoon of baking soda to a large bowl of warm water, stir and add your rinsed and drained chickpeas.

Step 2: Massage the chickpeas
Massage with your hands until the skins start to float to the top of the water. Fish out the skins and then drain the chickpeas again.

Step 3: Rinse and Remove
Rinse with cold water and remove any remaining skins!
