This is my tried and true method for making fluffy, perfect rice every time. Making good rice is essential to being a home cook, and you do not need a rice cooker or any specific equipment to make it perfectly. We eat rice probably 5 times a week, whether it be cilantro lime rice for copycat chipotle bowls, garlic butter rice with salmon or chicken, or sushi rice for my salmon bowl recipe.

Ingredients/Equipment
Sauce pan with lid (mine is saucy from great jones)
Measuring Cup ( mine is the beyond measure 2-cup, also from great jones)
Rice
Water (double the amount of rice that you are cooking)
Rice | Water |
1 cup | 2 cups |
1.5 cups | 3 cups |
Let’s FLUFF!
Step 1- Remove the starch, retain the fluff

It is essential that you rinse the rice before cooking it. Add rice to a strainer and run under cool water for 1-2 minutes, or until water is mostly clear. This removes the layer or starch from the rice and prevents it from becoming a gummy mess. WE MUST RETAIN THE FLUFF.
Step 2-Get that water hot

If you are making 1 cup of rice, bring 2 cups of rice to a roaring boil.
Step 3- Add rice to the water

Add rice to the boiling water. Reduce heat to low, reducing to a simmer. Put lid on the sauce pan. Let simmer for 20 minutes.
Step 4- Remove and FLUFF

Remove lid from the saucepan and turn off heat. Fluff rice with a fork, add ingredients that suit the other elements of your meal and enjoy.
Thank you for reading and fluffing with me!
